What Can We Do If Some of Our Family Members Don’t Ski?

One of the best things about a winter getaway is that everyone doesn’t have to enjoy the same activities!

If skiing isn’t your family’s thing, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the season.

Can We Go Snow Tubing Instead of Skiing?

Absolutely! Snow tubing is a fun way for kids and adults to enjoy the snow without needing skiing or snowboarding experience.

King Pine & Cranmore offer snow tubing, making it a great option for families who want some winter excitement without spending the day on the slopes.

Where Can We Go Snowshoeing or Cross-Country Skiing?

For families who prefer a quieter outdoor adventure, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are wonderful ways to explore New Hampshire’s winter landscapes.

Nearby outdoor recreation areas and trail networks offer opportunities to enjoy peaceful wooded trails and snowy scenery.

It’s a great way to slow down, enjoy nature, and experience the beauty of winter together.

Always check trail conditions and whether trails are groomed or open before heading out.

BONUS: You’ll find 4 sets of snowshoes down in the basement for your enjoyment. Sizes range from adult to young ones. You can also stash your skis and boards on our rack in the basement as well.

What About Ice Skating, Ice Fishing, or Snowmobiling?

King Pine offers ice skating, and seasonal outdoor skating opportunities may also be available throughout the region when conditions permit.

You can also easily ice skate right on Belleau Lake! Make sure the ice is safe to use of course. You’ll also see many snowmobilers out and about as Belleau Bear Camp is ideally located near many trails and close to the Seven Lakes Trail system!

What Can We Do With Kids on a Winter Weekend?

Sometimes the best winter memories come from simple adventures.

Depending on snow and weather conditions, families can enjoy:

  • Sledding and exploring on the ice
  • Taking scenic drives through New Hampshire and Maine
  • Visiting local shops and restaurants
  • Enjoying hot chocolate after a day outdoors

And don’t forget the fun waiting back at the cabin!

What If We Just Want to Relax and Enjoy the Cabin?

Not every winter getaway needs a packed itinerary.
